Hi there, I'm Steve
I am a retired Forensic Scientist, Fingerprint Examiner, and author. I have written over 30 articles in trade magazines and professional journals, including the article Getting the Forensic Facts Right for the Writer.
I have also written almost 25 articles that have appeared in numerous publications including; The IAI Journal of Forensic Identification, Law Enforcement Technology, Forensic Magazine, Silver State Journal of Identification, Evidentiary Science & Technology News, including “Image Management,” “Scientific Digital Camera”, “Film to Digital,” and “Digital Enhancement of Latent Prints.”
I have two published humor books, Not Tonight Dear, I Have a Computer, and the Hired Defense Witness Jokebook.
My novel, Scraffito, is a murder mystery set in Costa Rica.
I wrote a short story, Quake Prince, which appeared in the anthology Felons, Flames, and Ambulance Rides.
I have two non-fiction books on the crippling of forensic science by the defense community, The Hijack of Forensic Science, and It’s About Time We Admit We Were Wrong.
My newest book, True Crime in Real Time, is out now on Amazon and Genius Books.
My upcoming book to be published later this year, A Juror's Handbook of Lawyers Dirty Tricks.
I have been on book panels at Men of Mystery, Mystery on the Menu, and Left Coast Crime with Jan Burke and on a panel at Bouchercon alongside authors such as D.P. Lyle and Robin Burcell. See you at 2024 Crime Con!
PSWA is an association of writers existing to support people involved in creating content about police work and public safety. Members include detectives, police officers, FBI agents, first responders, firefighters, crime scene investigators, and medical professionals.
Steve has been on many writing panels at the PSWA annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has also acted in the PSWA mystery play.

My upcoming year is set to be very exciting as I have three books scheduled for publication. True Crime in Real Time is a new paradigm approach to true crime, putting the reader in the place of investigators on real true crime cases. The reader is a fictional detective who methodically uncovers evidence investigating current and historical true crime cases. A Juror’s Handbook of Lawyer’s Dirty Tricks is also set for 2024, along with a mystery novel, Scrafitto.
